The Gray Catbird remains in our backyard multiflora rose bramble which =
holds the only berries in the area. It was present again this morning. =
At my morning sojourn at Duncan Reef the Purple Sandpipers finally made =
themselves visible after about fifteen minutes. A few Snow Buntings =
chipped overhead as I enjoyed the scene. The reef itself was loaded up =
with gray and harbour seals.

I noticed an interesting vessel approaching Halifax Harbour so I sallied =
up to my(our) usual look-off place about halfway between Chebucto Head =
and Chebucto Head Light. It was a transatlantic cable laying ship. I =
took my photos and then put my camera lens into transport mode and =
headed back but just before the gates a pair of White-winged Crossbills =
landed beside me, not three metres distant. So off came the reversed =
lens hood and reset on the zoom lens, the zoom lock was released and the =
zoom extended but no photos yet. Hans turns the camera on and the two =
birds were still present so I managed a couple of quick shots.

Hans
