This afternoon after school I went for a walk on the dyke here in Port Williams, Kings County. At 45.08849,-64.418532 on the farm road behind the school I found a yellow breasted chat in a brush pile beside the roadway. I also saw my first Iceland gulls of the season flying east over the river, probably coming from the New Minas sewage ponds and on their way to Boot Island for the night. In the sumac beside the Port Williams sewage ponds there were many (12+) song sparrows, and on the north pond were fifty mallards. At least six of these were diving repeatedly like scaup, and staying submerged more than momentarily. George Forsyth
