Apparently there were 2 wing tags placed on the gull = and we only observed 1, but I am not 100% sure we saw both sides of the = bird, but I think there was only 1 wing tag. If any one else sees this = or another bird, see if both wing tags are present. This bird was banded on Sable this past = January. Great Black-backed Gulls aggregate here in the thousands in = the winter when the grey seals are pupping and making a plentiful food = supply for the gulls. But none of the winter-banded gulls were spotted = on Sable this past summer so we don't think it's the same population = that is there during winter and breeding. Your sighting helps us link = this winter population to their roots on the mainland during the rest of = the year.
