--14dae9399d73d0ccdb04cdd1ce0b Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 5 Nov 2012, White's Lake November is usually a routine month for activity at my feeders, but yesterday was different. First, I was visited by a flock of six *Evening Grosbeaks*, the first I've had for almost seven years. They didn't linger, as my Squirrel-proof seed feeder was set at Purple Finch weight, and the heavy grosbeaks couldn't get at the seeds. When I tried to put out seed on a platform, they spooked and flew away. Later, as I fussed outside placing the heater in the bird bath (our first frost of the season) I flushed a *Northern Goshawk*, which flew calmly down the driveway and through the trees. Later in the afternoon I was visited by the immature male *Common Grackle* which has been present since July, and at dusk I spotted a *Gray Catbird* in the multiflora rose along our deck. This is just the second time (and the latest) this species has been in the yard in the autumn-- the first in mid-October 2005, after Hurricane Wilma. There seems to be an arrival of Gray Catbirds in the province. Please report if you encounter one.
