This is further to my post of an Alder Flycatcher this morning. It was = suggested by Ian McLaren that photos might help rule out Dusky = Flycatcher. Getting photos will not be easy, but I can add some = descriptive details from my ten second sighting. The flycatcher had a = darkish, dusky look to the head and back, light chest and underparts, = strong white wing bars and no visible eye ring or lores. It was small, = much smaller than any phoebe or wood-pewee. The lack of a visible eye = ring does not rule out Alder Flycatcher since this bird's eye ring is = weak and can be hard to see at times. There was no tail bobbing. I should have taken photos through the window rather than foolishly = stepping onto the deck which caused my flycatcher to skedattle.=20 Hans _________________________________________________________________________= ________________________________ Hans Toom Portuguese Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada http://www.hanstoom.com/ ------=_NextPart_000_006A_01CDBA88.C83186E0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19328"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message -----=20 <DIV style=3D"BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A=20 title=3Dhtoom@hfx.eastlink.ca href=3D"mailto:htoom@hfx.eastlink.ca">Hans = Toom</A>=20 </DIV> <DIV><B>To:</B> <A title=3DNS-RBA@yahoogroups.com=20 href=3D"mailto:NS-RBA@yahoogroups.com">NS-RBA</A> </DIV> <DIV><B>Sent:</B> Sunday, November 04, 2012 12:34 PM</DIV> <DIV><B>Subject:</B> Red-bellied Woodpecker and More on the Alder=20 Flycatcher</DIV></DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Our male <STRONG>Red-bellied = Woodpecker</STRONG> is=20 back after an absence of two months.</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>This is further to my post of an = <STRONG>Alder=20 Flycatcher</STRONG> this morning.
