Hi all,

We need volunteers to help with the 4th Annual "Wild for Waterfowl" event
to count coastal waterbirds from Port Mouton Bay to Sable River within the
South Shore (Port Joli Sector) Important Bird Area and Migratory Bird
Sanctuaries! Please share this with others.

Date: Sunday, November 18, 2012 (Alternate foul weather date to be
November 17)
Time: 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Lunch will be provided to registered participants.

Nature Conservancy of Canada, Bird Studies Canada, and the Harrison Lewis
Centre are holding the 4th Annual Wild for Waterfowl event within the Port
Joli Important Bird Area (IBA) to survey waterfowl, other waterbirds and
coastal habitats within the IBA and and Migratory Bird Sanctuaries. This is
always a fun day for beginner and expert 'waterfowlers' to come together
and learn about different coastal birds and habitats, and contribute to
monitoring and conservation efforts underway in the region. All data from
each count is fully accessible to the public through eBird.ca and shared
with Canadian Wildlife Service waterfowl managers.

Anyone with an interest in coastal birds is welcome, including beginner
birders and families. Prior to the count, we will provide an overview of
common bird species and the IBA boundaries. Each group will be accompanied
by at least one experienced birder to assist with identification and
documenting observations. Binoculars and spotting scopes available if
needed.

For more information about the event or to register, please contact:
