--Apple-Mail-93--857608970 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed OCT. 24, 2012 - Two interesting customers at our back-yard feeders: (a) the eastern chipmunk is still active, not yet hibernating; and (b) a beautiful fox sparrow has shown up today. I had my first definite junco a couple of days ago, but am pretty sure one was there about a week ago or earlier. Sunny, windy, and cool today, but nice weather for an afternoon walk in Wolfville. I started at the Wolfville Wharf parking lot and wharf park -- no shorebirds seen, just 6 ring-billed gulls. Then followed rail trail east, then to Main St. to Oak Avenue, continued from end of Oak Ave. along what I will dub the "Pulsifer Trail" through the woods (Cecil Pulsifer improved and maintained this trail over many years (and same for the popular trail along Gaspereau River from White Rock Bridge)), parallel to Main St., to the bridge across to the Woodman Property (where the new apartments are being constructed, visible from the dykelands). Along that woodland trail were 20+ robins, plus blue jays, bl.-c. chickadees, song sparrows. Then back to wharf park parking lot, where I sat in my car for a few minutes, and Richard Stern's mockingbird jumped onto the fence there right in front of me, where rose-hips are abundant and Can. holly berries are nearby. I walked over to the fence, and the mocker allowed close observation and posed on the wire, then flew the short distance to a puddle and drank from it, again at very close range. --Apple-Mail-93--857608970 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII
<body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; = -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; "><div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; = margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><font = face=3D"Arial" size=3D"4" style=3D"font: 13.0px Arial">OCT. 24, = 2012<font face=3D"Arial" size=3D"4" color=3D"#0a28ce" = style=3D"font: 13.0px Arial; color: #0a28ce"> - Two interesting = customers at our back-yard feeders: (a) the <font face=3D"Arial" = size=3D"4" style=3D"font: 13.0px Arial">eastern = chipmunk<font face=3D"Arial" size=3D"4" color=3D"#0a28ce" = style=3D"font: 13.0px Arial; color: #0a28ce"> is still active, not yet = hibernating; and (b) a beautiful<font face=3D"Arial" size=3D"4" = style=3D"font: 13.0px Arial"> fox sparrow<font = face=3D"Arial" size=3D"4" color=3D"#0a28ce" style=3D"font: 13.0px Arial; = color: #0a28ce"> has shown up today.
