I thought I would have too much time = but boy was I wrong. At the gates to Chebucto Head I had my first = client, an Indigo Bunting. There was lots of bird activity around, = dozens of Yellow-rumped Warblers and hundreds of American Robins, now = bunching up into 100-200 bird flocks. My walk continued but was uneventful to Duncan Reef, where I sat for a = half hour to enjoy the morning and a cup of java. I turned around and = spotted a light coloured sparrow and thought "Ipswich" but when I got my = binos on it, bingo, it turned into a Lark Sparrow, the first I've ever = seen down here at the reef. Lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers and Boreal = Chickadees kept me company along the route. At the crest of the hill, at the knoll overlooking "The Castle" I saw = and photographed a female Scarlet Tanager. Overhead a large Peregrine = Falcon flew past, followed shortly thereafter by eight Red Crossbills. Duncan's Cove Road was very active from the village to the intersection = with Chebucto Head Road. There were dozens more Yellow-rumped Warblers = and American Robins, plus one White-crowned Sparrow. When Laura picked = me up at 12:15PM I was busy photographing a male Red-bellied Woodpecker. = I wish I had more time. Time to check out my yard birds!
