we still have a number of butterflies moving about here in White Point,
both here and in the estates on Oct. 18th. I have a pristine Red Admiral or
two, a couple very faded painted ladies, but not tattered. In my yard there
is a partial Monarch. Missing is a good bit of the wings on one side and a
chunk from the other but still managing to flit about in the breeze! Amazing
little creatures. I always feel blessed when one lites on my awhile and
today it happened twice! How lucky can a body be?
In the evening coming back up across the golf course, I have noticed toads
moving. Have only seen one or two tiny ones here. I miss them. We use to
have many. I found them tucked in everywhere. Even had a toad house or two
out and about the property.
We still have chipmunks visiting regularly, and raccoons that take the
feeder and leave with it, hide it or just rip it apart and let it lie.
Doesn't seem interested in the hummingbird feeder thankfully. Time to
freshen the syrup.
Best regards
Marg in White Point, Queens
