At this date, there is not a great deal available to separate the juveniles of these 2 species. In Kings Co. I generally only see a single AMGP in a flock of BBPL. Today I found one bird in with 62 BBPL just N of Horton Landing, at high tide. In the photo you can see that the bill is smaller (the BBPL bill is very robust), there is some light barring on the flank and the bird is a bit slimmer. I did get to see the light brown underwing also. I now have 4 AMGP in photos with BBPL at different times of the year, May 20 to today, in my Shorebird gallery. The direct link is to today's bird. http://rickwhitman.smugmug.com/Nature/Shorebirds/22686725_mPvQtv#!i=2147020075&k=6sxkLZg The other three birds are on the same page but have all been linked before.
