This is a multipart message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_001C_01CDA7D2.5E852FD0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit This weekly report is almost a week late due to the very high number of calls to be processed and identified this week; the biggest week of the year for nocturnal migration this autumn. In total, 4,162 flight calls were recorded and it was a sparrow extravaganza. Not only was there a high number of sparrows but there was a great diversity, with a total of 13 possible sparrow species. The most common sparrows were Savannah, White-throated, Lincoln's/Swamp, and Song. The most common warblers were Yellow-rumped, Common Yellowthroat, Palm, and Blackpoll. Due to the number of rare species this week, I am listing them first and giving each species a confidence rating based on the strength of the call and the conformity of the call to typical spectrogram patterns for that species. Thus the rare/unusual birds were: Orange-crowned Warbler - 1 (probable) Pine Warbler - 3 (probable) Prairie Warbler - 2 (probable) Prothonotary Warbler - 1 (possible) Field Sparrow - 5 (possible) Grasshopper Sparrow - 1 (probable) Fox Sparrow - 2 (possible) White-crowned Sparrow - 5 (probable) Indigo Bunting - 1 (probable) The total number of night flight calls for the period from the evening of 28 September to the morning of 5 October 2012 is as follows: Semipalmated Plover - 2 Black-capped Chickadee - 3 Golden-crowned Kinglet - 7 Veery - 1 Swainson's Thrush - 40 Hermit Thrush - 32 American Pipit - 3 Northern Parula - 12 Magnolia Warbler - 35 Cape May Warbler - 1 Black-throated Blue Warbler - 3 Yellow-rumped Warbler - 368 Black-throated Green Warbler - 25 Pine Warbler - 3 Palm Warbler - 132 Bay-breasted Warbler - 5 Blackpoll Warbler - 67 American Redstart - 1 Prairie Warbler - 2 Other unidentified warblers of the genus Setophaga - 6 Tennessee Warbler - 1 Orange-crowned Warbler - 1 Nashville Warbler - 8 Other unidentified warblers of the genus Oreothlypis - 11 Black and White Warbler - 19 Common Yellowthroat - 238 Prothonotary Warbler - 1 Other unidentified warblers - 25 Chipping Sparrow - 29 Field Sparrow - 5 Vesper Sparrow - 1 Savannah Sparrow - 1,487 Nelson's Sparrow - 14 Grasshopper Sparrow - 1 Fox Sparrow - 2 Song Sparrow - 127 Lincoln's/Swamp Sparrow - 224 White-throated Sparrow - 994 White-crowned Sparrow - 5 Dark-eyed Junco - 32 Other unidentified sparrows - 126 Rose-breasted Grosbeak - 2 Indigo Bunting - 1 Other unidentified songbirds - 49 Other unidentified birds - 6 Total - 4,162 I have updated my website since my last report and have made the charts crisper, see http://www.johnfkearney.com/Nocturnal_Migration.html ------=_NextPart_000_001C_01CDA7D2.5E852FD0 Content-Type: text/html; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html xmlns:v=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" = xmlns:o=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" = xmlns:w=3D"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:word" = xmlns:m=3D"http://schemas.microsoft.com/office/2004/12/omml" = xmlns=3D"http://www.w3.org/TR/REC-html40"><head><meta = http-equiv=3DContent-Type content=3D"text/html; = charset=3Dus-ascii"><meta name=3DGenerator content=3D"Microsoft Word 14 = (filtered medium)"><style><!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4;} @font-face {font-family:"Comic Sans MS"; panose-1:3 15 7 2 3 3 2 2 2 4;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {margin:0cm; margin-bottom:.0001pt; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Comic Sans MS"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} a:link, span.MsoHyperlink {mso-style-priority:99; color:blue; text-decoration:underline;} a:visited, span.MsoHyperlinkFollowed {mso-style-priority:99; color:purple; text-decoration:underline;} span.EmailStyle17 {mso-style-type:personal-compose; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; color:windowtext;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} @page WordSection1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt 72.0pt;} div.WordSection1 {page:WordSection1;} --></style><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapedefaults v:ext=3D"edit" spidmax=3D"1026" /> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <o:shapelayout v:ext=3D"edit"> <o:idmap v:ext=3D"edit" data=3D"1" /> </o:shapelayout></xml><![endif]--></head><body lang=3DEN-CA link=3Dblue = vlink=3Dpurple><div class=3DWordSection1><p class=3DMsoNormal><span = style=3D'font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"'>This = weekly report is almost a week late due to the very high number of calls = to be processed and identified this week; the biggest week of the year = for nocturnal migration this autumn.
