Hi all=0AI am told by a Caddis expert that thes are Great Autumn Brown Sedg=
e=A0=0AGary LaFontaine describes its relationship very well in=A0Caddisflie=
s:=0A=0A=0ATheir life cycle is completely synchronized with this food sourc=
e -- the eggs hatch in the fall, just as the deciduous trees are shedding t=
heir foliage; the larvae feed and grow throughout the winter and spring, un=
til early summer when the high water flushes away the accumulations of deca=
ying leaves; the larvae enter=A0diapause, a quiescent period, sealing off t=
heir cases, once their food source is diminished; they remain in this inact=
ive state until they pupate in late summer; emergence, mating, and egg layi=
ng occurs in early fall, producing a new generation in time for the next in=
put of leaves.=0A=0A=0A________________________________=0A From: Paul MacDo=
