A sharp 16" chainsaw would do fine. Just mark out a piece about 4"wide =
at the hollow middle, 10" wide at the bark (so it won't be too fragile) =
then cut in from both sides at about a 45o angle with the nose of the =
saw. Free the narrow innermost section first so it will not be stressed =
& break. Then Colin can mount it on a frame and cut the face if =
necessary with a bandsaw.

Hi Chris, Colin wanted a sample of the oak and the pieces are just too =
big. Huge in fact. One would need a very big chain saw. So I can't help =
him . I did however take a photograph of the rings so I don't know if =
that is any good or not. And we got photos of ourselves standing next to =
the section of trunk.
I accidentaly deleted his email with address so this is why I am =
sending you the info.=20
