Andy ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Paul MacDonald=20 To: Nature NS=20 Sent: Tuesday, September 18, 2012 7:18 PM Subject: [NatureNS] Fundy day again Hi All Today was so nice and I had such good reports from yesterday, my wife and I decided to go visit the Fundy Beach for the second time in two = days. I didn't take my fishing gear but when we got there I meet a long time friend so got my fishing fix from him. He had interesting stories of = Bass and Squid. So we spent 3 hours sitting in the sun watching the tide come up and = the birds. Shorebirds were much more plentiful than yesterday - perhaps 4 or 5 to = 1. They were very flighty however and kept taking off circling around and = sitting back on the beach. For no reason apparent to me. The incoming storm = might have some bearing. Also quite a few flocks flying out in the bay that never = came near shore. An older Black Backed Gull is almost a pet to my friend. The gull = waits for him to catch=20 a Tommy Cod and then has dinner. There are also 4 - 5 other gulls = sitting out on the water. Old BB Gull just stands near my friend. After awhile a 25 cm Tommy Cod = bite the bait and my friend took it off and threw it on the beach by the gull. The = gull grabbed it and went out over the bay but all the other gulls saw this and made things = hot for him. After 100 m, the gull dropped the fish and all the other gulls took = off. I thought Whats up? I didn't have to wait for the answer, a Bald Eagle who had been = sitting in the trees, unseen by me came in pursuit. The fish was floating so the eagle put down its legs = and grabbed it, flew off into a tree and ate it. My friend caught a few more Tommy Cods and feed them to the gull but = the Eagle was happy with the one it had so the Gulls got to fight among = themselves. A fun day at the beach. Enjoy the nice days Paul ------=_NextPart_000_0063_01CD96B0.FC3EFF90 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19298"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>What a pleasant story to read. = Lovely word=20 images.
