--Apple-Mail-1--26426708 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII; delsp=yes; format=flowed SEPT. 14, 2012 -At "Stella's Pond" [D.U.C. impoundment along Middle Dyke Rd. adjacent to Cornwallis River]: Yesterday Mark Elderkin spotted our old friend from the Spring, 2012, the white-and-brown domestic-origin goose, and photographed it -- thanks, Mark, for reporting it. Well, today at noon this striking goose was right where Mark photo'd it. Also present were at least 15 probable yellowlegs, probably greaters, but they were too far away for my optics (7X binoculars and 25X very old spotting scope). And today's very bright Sunlight was not helpful. MINER'S MARSH in Kentville in early afternoon, in continuing bright Sunlight, warmth, and light breeze (very nice): no shorebirds seen at all; no interesting ducks; about 25+ red-winged blackbirds in the cattails; 1 basking painted turtle; a few each of cabbage white and clouded sulphur butterflies, and unidentified dragonflies; still about 10+ large silken "tents" of fall webworms (moth caterpillars)over ends of branches of cherry trees (prob. mostly pupae now -- only one caterpillar seen, but only one tent examined); lots of plants with flowers (c. tansy, asters (2+ kinds), jewelweed, butter-and-eggs, etc.), but notable were oodles of tall beggar-ticks, alias sticktights, Bidens frondosa, forming a trailside wall at one point along the north-side trail; among the fruiting plants, both cattails and common milkweeds are starting to liberate their seeds (only one fruit opening in the milkweeds). Cheers from Jim in Wolfville. --Apple-Mail-1--26426708 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Content-Type: text/html; charset=US-ASCII
<body style=3D"word-wrap: break-word; -webkit-nbsp-mode: space; = -webkit-line-break: after-white-space; "><div style=3D"margin-top: 0px; = margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; "><font = face=3D"Helvetica" size=3D"3" style=3D"font: 12.0px Helvetica">SEPT. = 14, 2012 -At "Stella's Pond" [D.U.C. impoundment along Middle = Dyke Rd. adjacent to Cornwallis River]: Yesterday Mark Elderkin spotted = our old friend from the Spring, 2012, the white-and-brown = domestic-origin goose, and photographed it -- thanks, Mark, for = reporting it.
