The largest movement of nocturnal migrants this autumn occurred last night
(September 7) over Antigonish County, with about 90% of it occurring before
midnight. This suggests a large exit of birds from northern Nova Scotia,
PEI, and Cape Breton. About 1,300 night flight calls were recorded in the
four hours from 8 pm to midnight. This is more than has been recorded in any
entire week so far this migration. I am working on an analysis of the
species composition.
