(Digby Neck is the oth= er Canadian location and it is also found in the White Mountains in N.H.) = The bog has been altered in an attempt to drain it for agricultural purpos= es (this is historical) so the bog is drier now and is being overrun by la= rge numbers of woody plants (like blackberry) so it's a hard slog into and= out of there.=A0 Apart from the G. peckii, both Bog Goldenrod and Bog Ast= er were abundant.=A0 We had several sightings of Northern Harrier and ther= e were many hummingbirds, including at least one male, frequenting the Spo= tted Touch-Me-Not.=0A>>At the end of our exhausting day, as we left the ru= nway from which we accessed the bog, we spooked a small bird off the grave= l road into the trees. I paused as others walked on. After a few seconds, = the bird flew back to the road about 40 m from me.=A0Through the binocular= s, it appeared to be a Lark Sparrow and I took several rather poor but doc= umentary pics - it was indeed a LASP, the highlight of our sojourn to Brie= r!=0A>>=A0=0A>>Friday morning, we did a long walk from Gull Rock Road arou= nd to Whipple Point looking for shorebirds in Big Pond and Pond Cove.=A0 H= ighlights were two Baird's Sandpipers, and more Least than Semipalm Sandpi= pers.=A0 An immature Bald Eagle could be seen at the far end of Big Pond. = Also noteworthy were 65-70 Grey Seals in Pond Cove (lots of racket!).=0A>>= =A0=0A>>We did the late afternoon Mariner Cruises pelagic and it was the r= oughest trip I've ever done into the Bay of Fundy.=A0 Most of the children= on board were quite ill and several adults looked pretty green!=A0 Althou= gh the lack of whales disappointed many, the seabirds were good with North= ern Gannet, Great Shearwater, Wilson's Storm-Petrel, and both phalaropes p= utting on very good shows.=A0 Also noted 2 or 3 Sooty Shearwaters, 2 North= ern Fulmar, several Puffins, and one unidentified tern species.=A0 Perched= in the trees overlooking the water, we noted Great Blue Heron, Osprey, Re= d-tailed Hawk and another Bald Eagle.=0A>>=A0=0A>>We made lots of stops, fo= r geocaching, short hikes and general exploration, on our return.=A0 Notew= orthy were a Baltimore Oriole at Central Grove cemetery along Flour Cove R= oad on Digby Neck and Peregrine Falcon as we walked the new trail at Gulli= vers Cove.=A0 As I scanned the 110-m cliff at trail end, I noticed what mi= ght be a PEFA nest site (eyrie?) with another adult bird on a step on the = cliff face.=A0 I have a very poor picture - the bird was likely over 500m = away from us.=A0 Does anyone know if information on possible PEFA nest sit= es is collected by anyone?=0A>>=A0=0A>>Cheers,=0A>>Bob McDonald=0A>>Halifa= x =0A>No virus found in this message.=0A>Checked by AVG - www.avg.com=0A>V= ersion: 2012.0.2197 / Virus =0A Database: 2437/5245 - Release Date: 09/03/= 12 ---2114655128-2110676650-1346760173=:42667 Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <html><body><div style=3D"color:#000; background-color:#fff; font-family:ti= mes new roman, new york, times, serif;font-size:12pt"><div><span>Not to wor= ry Bob a</span><span style=3D"background-color: transparent; "> great = post</span></div><div style=3D"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px; font-f= amily: 'times new roman', 'new york', times, serif; background-color: trans= parent; font-style: normal; "><span style=3D"background-color: transparent;= ">- it is the kind that make Nature NS worth reading.</span></div><div sty= le=3D"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: 16px; font-family: 'times new roman',= 'new york', times, serif; background-color: transparent; font-style: norma= l; "><span style=3D"background-color: transparent; ">A small mistake by my = standards - LOL!</span></div><div style=3D"color: rgb(0, 0, 0); font-size: = 16px; font-family: 'times new roman', 'new york', times, serif; background-= color: transparent; font-style: normal; "><span style=3D"background-color: transparent; ">Have a great day</span></div><div style=3D"color: rgb(0, 0,= 0); font-size: 16px; font-family: 'times new roman', 'new york', times, se= rif; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal; "><span style=3D"ba= ckground-color: transparent; ">Paul</span></div><div style=3D"color: rgb(0,= 0, 0); font-size: 16px; font-family: 'times new roman', 'new york', times,= serif; background-color: transparent; font-style: normal; "><br></div> <d= iv style=3D"font-family: 'times new roman', 'new york', times, serif; font-=
