Again birding was a little slow, but with = some digging, I came up with a bit of a list. Noteworthy. 2 Red-necked = Grebes in alternate gear- (nice red necks) were near scoters and loons = along the Strait at the east end of the island. It was nice to see 7 = Ovenbirds and 2 Canada Warblers. The latter were likely first fall birds = with only a very fine neck streaking. My ebird submission is below for = anyone interested.=20 cheers Ken Big Island, Pictou, CA-NS 15-Aug-2012 7:40 AM - 1:20 PM Protocol: Traveling 15.0 kilometer(s) Comments: tide almost high on arrival and dropping when I left, = light winds, sunny and humid 63 species (+1 other taxa) American Black Duck 28 Surf Scoter 18 White-winged Scoter 2 duck sp. 6 Common Loon 25 Red-necked Grebe 2 still in alt. plumage with red necks Northern Gannet 17 Double-crested Cormorant 14 Great Blue Heron 8 Northern Harrier 2 Bald Eagle 1 Black-bellied Plover 8 Semipalmated Plover 116 Greater Yellowlegs 2 Willet 4 Lesser Yellowlegs 23 Whimbrel 2 Semipalmated Sandpiper 81 Least Sandpiper 18 White-rumped Sandpiper 4 Short-billed Dowitcher 49 Bonaparte's Gull 17 Ring-billed Gull 79 Herring Gull 5 Great Black-backed Gull 7 Common Tern 16 Mourning Dove 2 Belted Kingfisher 5 Downy Woodpecker 1 Hairy Woodpecker 1 Northern Flicker 3 American Kestrel 2 Alder Flycatcher 1 Least Flycatcher 1 Red-eyed Vireo 8 Blue Jay 2 American Crow 22 Common Raven 2 Bank Swallow 1 Barn Swallow 6 Black-capped Chickadee 20 Red-breasted Nuthatch 2 Golden-crowned Kinglet 3 American Robin 7 European Starling 70 Cedar Waxwing 6 Ovenbird 7 Black-and-white Warbler 7 Nashville Warbler 1 Common Yellowthroat 5 American Redstart 4 Magnolia Warbler 6 Yellow Warbler 4 Yellow-rumped Warbler 14 Black-throated Green Warbler 1 Canada Warbler 2 Savannah Sparrow 9 Nelson's Sparrow 1 Song Sparrow 14 Swamp Sparrow 1 White-throated Sparrow 6 Bobolink 1 Purple Finch 2 American Goldfinch 20 This report was generated automatically by eBird v3 = (http://ebird.org/Canada ------=_NextPart_000_003E_01CD7BA0.5155E560 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19298"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial></FONT> </DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Ken McKenna<BR>Box 218 Stellarton = NS<BR>B0K=20 1S0<BR>902 752-7644<BR></FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Hi all</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>It was another humid day in Pictou Co. = yesterday=20 with just a little relief at the shore of Big I.
