For the = boneset herb, and based on conversations with the person who did this = tedious preparation, fresh leaves were cut into small squares (~ 4 mm x = 4 mm) and dried on newspaper placed in a sunny window.=20 I made the tea using guesswork; one level teaspoon of loose dried = leaf simmered for ~5 minutes in 8 fl oz of water.=20 As I say, perhaps it did no good but at least did no harm. I tried some in = 2011 as described in the following paste. It may not have helped but it = did no harm. START OF PASTE I gave my left wrist a bad sprain yesterday morning (pulled hard = on a=20 dead branch that suddenly broke so wrist bent sideways) and within 3 = hours just bending my fingers caused severe pain-- so not wanting to = endure down-time I went for the 6-million dollar man rapid healing = option; economy style: warm water soak, massage, elastic bandage, tai = chi (sp ?) exercises, wrist sock, hot watter bottle and last but perhaps = not least, 2 cups of=20 Boneset (Aug 2009) tea. END OF PASTE The next day I was able to use the chainsaw for about 5 hours. It was dark and overcast with only a few drops of rain. I waded in a pool so I was close to the truck should a downpour come on - LOL! The light made the Boneset on the banks very showy. I know it is often not a show stopper but the evening light brought it out. An interesting plant, suprisingly not on any poison, obnoxious = list that I could see. It was used for a lot of things in the old days but has passed out of favor. Who knows what properties will be discovered it has in the future? Does anyone know if it is a host plant for any butterflies? Interesting birds passed by but in the interests of SAR, I will refrain from mentioning them here.
