It seemed t= o do well in the same oldfield meadows where goldenrod thrived. For about t= hirty years, I kept a large goat herd and a couple of horses that pastured i= n those fields and never had a problem as they tended to leave the St Johns W= ort, Goldenrod, Yarrow, Milkweed and Asters - which suited me just fine as t= hose were the plants upon which the insects and spiders which I studied and p= hotographed did their thing. In my livestock books, the main warning concer= ning St. Johns Wort was that it could cause photosensitivity. Actually, a n= umber of plants will do so, but I guess it is particularly known for that re= action.
