This morning on 'The Current', the second half-hour was devoted to
Monarch Butterflies and their remarkable migration, which seems to be
huge and further north than usual this year. The first interview was
with John Acorn in Edmonton -- many will remember John as the 'Nature
Nut' on TV decades ago. I knew John in the 1970s in Edmonton when he
was in two nature clubs there and was a very keen youth entomologist
-- now he is on faculty in Biology at Univ. of Alberta.

I think John said he had only ever seen one Monarch in Edmonton until
June 7th, when he saw 5? of them and many others were seen in Alberta
after that. I think then they interviewed someone in Ontario, who
mentioned the earlier very large influx of Red Admirals and lately of
Monarchs.

Check out cbc.ca/thecurrent/ to try to listen in on today's show.

Don, please forward this to Barry Hicks in Newfoundland. Thanks.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville.
