Noticed, with delight, at least 10+ frogs hopping about in an overflowing drain pipe at the entrance to the grassy park area of Grahams Grove, yesterday afternoon. I'm not sure what type they were but from what I could tell, they were all very dark green/brownish colour. Consulted my book by John Gilhen, "Amphibians and Reptiles of Nova Scotia", I'm thinking, they were most likely Green Frogs, given the description and habitat preference.
BTW, have been checking, periodically, the nest site of the Snapping Turtle that laid her eggs on the bank of Red Bridge Pond 3 weeks ago. The bank is a fairly busy spot for people fishing and I was concerned that maybe it would get trampled and crushed. I did contact DNR there in Waverley, as I was concerned, but, as it is quite tricky to remove turtle eggs (as I have read), guess they felt that all should be left well enough alone. Here's hoping for the best!

Sincerely,

Gayle MacLean
