About 2 weeks ago my mother-in-law, her sister and 2 teachers from Hants
North School saw a black cougar in the school yard. DNR personnel came
to the school and set up bait and cameras but did not have any luck
getting photos. The next sighting was a few days later in Maitland.
Today, just before the Maitland Bridge, a nice size (15-18 inches long)
Snapping Turtle was crossing the road. We stopped and snapped a picture
and stayed until she? was well over the edge on the other side. The
cars all slowed because we were standing at the side of the road. So
many turtles get hit by cars.
