JUNE 7, 2012 -- 97+ chimney swifts counted as they dropped into
Wolfville's Robie Tufts Nature Centre chimney at dusk. Finally,
after several days of rainy, cold days and no good counts, today was
Sunny and fairly warm for most of the day, thus a good foraging day
for swifts. Tonight was mostly clear sky, calm (slight breeze), and
cool (12-13 C.). Nice Sunset. Sunset time was 8:57 p.m.
Observations were from 8:40 to 9:40 p.m. The gathering swifts, which
I thought looked like 30 or less, kept us waiting a long time before
nearly all of them dropped in from about 9:22 to 9:25 p.m., followed
by 1+1+2 stragglers to 9:35 p.m. Total was 97+. Observers Trish
Boyle and Jim Wolford.

On the other hand, wonderfully, at dusk Ken McKenna counted 605
chimney swifts as they dove into the chimney of the Temperance St.
School in New Glasgow.

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville and Ken in New Glasgow.
