Last Sunday, May 27, there was a pair of Northern Shovelers hanging =
about in the cove in front of my cottage. My next-door neighbour Tom =
Austin reported seeing the male for a few days before that. I confirmed =
breeding in this square for the atlas - a female Shoveler had young =
ducklings near Hope for Wildlife in Seaforth one year.

Tom also noted that they had 3 Indigo Buntings (2m, 1f) at their feeders =
for a couple of weeks recently, along with 2 Rose-breasted Grosbeaks. =
There must have been many more around the province like this that went =
unreported during the fallout.

A Gray Catbird was still singing in the lane to the cottage - first =
spotted by Pat McKay on the day of the Migration Count. A pair usually =
breeds along this lane, each summer.

Cheers,
Susann Myers
