It's increasingly the case that political events, such as these changes in the Fisheries Act, are having a significant impact on fisheries, national parks, Environment Canada, climate change, endangered species, and a whole host of issues of interest and concern to those interested in natural history. Indeed, the situation is sufficiently alarming that a group of organizations spearheaded by Equiterre, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, Sierra Club of Canada, Pembina Institute, Nature Canada, Ecojustice, Greenpeace Canada, Environmental Defence, and World Wildlife Fund Canada have joined together in the BlackOutSpeakOut.ca campaign slated for June 4th. It's no longer possible to imagine that the natural world remains unaffected by these events. Hence, many of us who care about natural history, also care about its continued well being. Thus, my closing comment: "If you're concerned, read this article - and then contact your Member of Parliament."
