At East Point, N. Grand Pre, on the nice little beach that is just W of the point & immediately W of the N end of the N-S dyke, at high tide today for at least 2 1/2 hours, there was one of each of these two species. While feeding quite a lot of the time, they stayed rather close together. I have them in a single photo. http://rickwhitman.smugmug.com/Nature/Birds-April-June-2012/22243788_LGxpGV#!i=1859753477&k=KfXZ7F9 I've probably never tried for the true shorebirds in spring in Kings Co. in the past. This year, between Wolfville harbour & the Horton Landing to East Point dyke, I've recorded (& photographed) 10 species: Black-bellied Plover, American Golden Plover, Semipalmated Plover, Greater Yellowlegs, Willet, Semipalmated Sandpiper, Least Sandpiper, Purple Sandpiper, Dunlin, Short-billed Dowitcher. With the 4 native species Killdeer, Spotted Sandpiper, Wilson's Snipe, American Woodcock plus one Sanderling at Martinique Beach, I've picked up 15 shorebirds this spring. It might qualify as "obsessive" but it was a lot of fun too ! Rick Whitman
