I took a little trip to MacElmon's Pond and walked the trail there yesterday. There were a number of new arrivals, but the surprising highlight was a Peregrine Falcon which flew overhead and then stooped (prey not visible to me because of the trees) from a height of several hundred feet.

Waterfowl included Mallards, American Black Ducks, American Wigeon and Canada Geese. A few faraway ducks flushed when the falcon went over but I was distracted and did not ID them. Singing songbirds included Yellow-rumped, Nashville and Black-throated Green Warblers, as well as a Blue-headed Vireo and an Evening Grosbeak. There were also three immature Bald Eagles hunting at the pond.

I also stopped at Marshland Drive in Truro on my way home. No partridges, but I did get to see a Red-tailed Hawk hunting at very close range and then have its rodent meal pirated by a second red-tail. Also two Osprey at that location.
