Bold talk you say, well here's this morning's 90 minute = warbler tally; Nashville, Northern Parula, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, = Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Blackburnian, Palm, = Black-and-White, Ovenbird, Northern Waterthrush and Canada, a total of = 12 species. Some of these warblers are two to three weeks early. I = started my walk at 9:30AM which is normally quitting time for me had I = been serious about this effort. The Northern Waterthrush and Canada Warbler are special to this area and = both males were singing on suitable habitat so I won't release the = location of these birds since any disturbance now may cause these males = to move on. Other notable attendees included; Indigo Bunting(1m, 3f), Red-eyed and = Blue-headed Vireos, Broad-winged Hawk, Swamp Sparrow and Common Loon. The good folks at the Five Bridges Heritage Trust(I am a former board = member and current advisor) had talked of creating a Friends of Jerry = Lawrence Provincial Park Society. It should be done since this place is = special and requires public protection. Two projects spring to mind; = creating a barrier free access from the main park to the St. Margaret's = Bay Trail and interpretative bird signage in the picnic/parking area. Hans PS: I am not a suitable candidate to lead the Friends of Jerry Lawrence = Provincial Park Society _________________________________________________________________________= ________________________________ Hans Toom Portuguese Cove, Nova Scotia, Canada http://www.hanstoom.com/ ------=_NextPart_000_002B_01CD2D15.2EA2B270 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19222"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV style=3D"FONT: 10pt arial">----- Original Message -----=20 <DIV style=3D"BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; font-color: black"><B>From:</B> <A=20 title=3Dhtoom@hfx.eastlink.ca href=3D"mailto:htoom@hfx.eastlink.ca">Hans = Toom</A>=20 </DIV> <DIV><B>To:</B> <A title=3DNS-RBA@yahoogroups.com=20 href=3D"mailto:NS-RBA@yahoogroups.com">NS-RBA</A> </DIV> <DIV><B>Sent:</B> Tuesday, May 08, 2012 12:21 PM</DIV> <DIV><B>Subject:</B> Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park</DIV></DIV> <DIV><BR></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=3D2 face=3DArial>Jerry Lawrence Provincial Park is a = premier warbler=20 park, possibly the best in Nova Scotia, although I certainly have not = been to=20 every location.
