It was a beautiful night for it = and certainly the brightest night I have ever done an owl survey with a = near "Super Moon" (Full moon with the moon closest to earth in its = orbit). Our results were unusual for this route, we usually get several = Barreds, a Saw-whet or two and if we are lucky one Great Horned. Friday = we detected 7 Great Horned, 2 of which I believe to be repeats so likely = 5 owls. The 2 repeats made me reconsider just how far a Great Horned = call can carry because when I heard them the first time they must have = been 1.5 Km away. We also had 3 Barred owls, one that flew in to check = us out. We had Woodcock at every stop but the last which is also = unusual since we gernerally only have them at the first 2 stops. Also = had peepers, toads, geese and snipe. A good night!
