May 5: I was about halfway between Horton Landing & East Point,
exactly where there is a small pond below the dyke, when a pair of
American Pipits flew in. They were both in full breeding plumage with
their entire breasts being pinky-buff as illustrated for the "paler
adult" in Sibley's Field Guide. Both were identical to that
illustration except I would say the eyebrow was more clearly defined,
as in the "darker adult". I thought they were very pretty. They left
the area before I did & looked to be moving on.
