After seeing the Summer Tanager near Fort Needham, Carol and I went down to Chester to pick up something I needed for the boat. I mentioned the good birds being seen on CSI and we decided to head down and spend the night in West Pubnico (we had to pick up toothbrushes on the way). Yesterday we got to see the Little Blue Heron at Daniel's Head and Indigo Buntings at Johnny Nickerson's. Today we saw the Green Heron near Johnny's, the Great Egret and Willets at Daniel's Head, a Gray Catbird, Rose-breasted Grosbeak (f) and Baltimore Oriole (m) at The Hawk. On the way home we had a Savannah Sparrow and Northern Mockingbird at Baccaro, 4 Hermit Thrushes alongside the road at Blanche, and a Northern Goshawk on the main highway past Jordan Falls. We also discovered the Dennis Point Restaurant in West Pubnico where we had excellent rappie pie and creamed lobster. Altogether, an enjoyable, unplanned two days thanks to Johnny and Sandra, Ronnie and Sharon , and Clyde. Don Don MacNeill donmacneill@eastlink.ca
