I was driving on the road out to Methals Dam, Black River Lake, when a hawk crossed the road & perched very close to the road. It's amazing how tolerant birds can be when you are inside of a car. I had to back up a bit for a clear shot but the hawk didn't fly. I got the photo linked below, which is uncropped. The hawk then flew less than 100' into the woods & perched again. I thought "why not try some more". I got the second photo, right after the direct link below. Only when I got these on the computer did I realize that the hawk already had a half-eaten Flicker on the second perch, a stub. You'll see it clearly, hanging off to the right, if so-inclined. There are also two photos of a Phoebe with nesting materials in her (?) bill, just above, that I rather like. http://rickwhitman.smugmug.com/Nature/Birds-April-June-2012/22243788_LGxpGV#!i=1817450867&k=XvkPhMw Rick Whitman
