I was driving on the road out to Methals Dam, Black River Lake, when a
hawk crossed the road & perched very close to the road. It's amazing
how tolerant birds can be when you are inside of a car. I had to back
up a bit for a clear shot but the hawk didn't fly. I got the photo
linked below, which is uncropped. The hawk then flew less than 100'
into the woods & perched again. I thought "why not try some more". I
got the second photo, right after the direct link below. Only when I
got these on the computer did I realize that the hawk already had a
half-eaten Flicker on the second perch, a stub. You'll see it clearly,
hanging off to the right, if so-inclined.

There are also two photos of a Phoebe with nesting materials in her
(?) bill, just above, that I rather like.
