Are you still in touch with current activities or = involved in water testing, lime dosing etc ? I noticed your involvement = in trout work so I would guess you are up to date.=20 Just wondering if these CB rivers have better quality water as many = (all ?) run through limestone areas or areas with basic rock.=20 The big killer of trout streams in Kings Co. was highway = construction. The small North Mountain streams used to be extremely = productive; small but numerous trout. Every time a nearby road got = widened, with subsequent ditch erosion & siltation, a stream died. Is = there any way practicable to bring these back ? Perhaps maple flowers would make a good salad. As kids we used to = shell out and eat Maple seeds; slightly bitter as I recall.=20 Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville ----- Original Message -----=20 From: Paul MacDonald=20 To: naturens@chebucto.ns.ca=20 Sent: Friday, April 27, 2012 9:29 AM Subject: Re: [NatureNS] Maple pollination Hi Dave The maple flowers are a favorite Black Bear spring feast. Fun to see them climb out on branches to strip them off. I'm not sure it they pollinate those that are left but perhaps not. Not a good idea to stand under the tree Have a nice spring Paul -------------------------------------------------------------------------= ----- From: David & Alison Webster <dwebster@glinx.com> To: NatureNS@chebucto.ns.ca=20 Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2012 6:49:44 PM Subject: [NatureNS] Maple pollination Dear All, Apr 26, 2012 Branches of a Sugar Maple that are nearest the house are now in full = bloom.
