Hi,

Over the last couple of weeks an American Kestrel has periodically been
hunting a field near our home in East Lawrencetown. Here is a picture:

It has been productively feeding on some type of insect. Can anyone identify
the type of insect from this photo?:

While watching its activities, there was an entertaining bit of behaviour
when it had captured a mouse and was looking for a location to cache it for
later. It went to several different locations and didn't seem to be
satisfied with any of them. Eventually it stuffed it under the bungee cord
holding down the cover of a neighbour's green bin.
