All: Susanne Myers and I walked the length of Martinique Beach (last parking lot to the end of the beach proper), about 2 km each way. On it we flushed 10 Ipswich Sparrows, 3 mainland Savannahs, and 6 Song Sparrows. Also, there were 18 Sanderlings and one Dunlin on the beach. We saw very little other than crows, starlings and robin going to or coming from the beach. For what it's worth, the 5 Ipswiches per km of beach were somewhat lower than peak counts of about 8.5 per km on 7 Apr. 1971 and 6.5 per km on 15 Apr. 1972. But, this can't be taken as a reliable indication of population size without like counts through the season. If anyone has the chance to do so, it might be interesting. Cheers, Ian Ian McLaren
