Order Amphipoda, Class Crustacea. They are small 2 - 8 mm in length and tolerate a wide range of pH but are sensitive to pollution. It would be susprising to find them down river from mink farms. How common in Nova Scotia I don't know but good fish food where they are found. A little known resident of outdoor NS to me! Have a nice spring Paul ---2114655128-864466426-1333537237=:63329 Content-Type: text/html; charset=us-ascii <html><body><div style="color:#000; background-color:#fff; font-family:times new roman, new york, times, serif;font-size:12pt"><div>Hi All</div><div>The shrimp or scuds reported in Canoeing on a sunny afternoon</div><div>appear to be Hyalella shrimp.
