Just returned from Red Bridge Pond here in Dartmouth, and was able to see 'Vogel', the Common Gallinule that has been present there since mid-December, 2011. Other than a Red-winged Blackbird which was situated not far from where the Gallinule was hunkered down within the reeds, there wasn't another bird in sight. Certainly could not help but notice the continuing change in the colour of its shield, becoming much more orangey-red now. It looked bright, wary & alert. Sincerely, Gayle MacLean Dartmouth
