This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0053_01CCF7EE.43780D00 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Wednesday, Feb 29, 2012 1:20 - 1:30 pm. When I walked on the driveway towards Randy Lauff's property, 15+ crows and ravens flew up to the air. I don't know if it was an adult bald eagle spooking them or if it was the noise from walking in the snow? After 20 minutes, the Black vulture was flying and circling low over the property, but did not come down to have a bite on the carcass (seal?). Soon after, it soared much higher. Oh yes, a red breasted nuthatch was there along with many black capped chickadees. Many thanks and much appreciation to Randy Lauff for sending updates to us all. Afterwards, I visited Big Island for the first time this year. The Great Scaups were the first birds on my 2012 Big Island list. They were quite close to the eastern sharp curve. A Northern shrike, possibly juvenile, dashed by and flew over the frozen water and up to the top of a deciduous tree, next to an adult bald eagle. Oddly enough, it was foraging? by the rocks. Is it normal for shrikes to do that? Other birds I found were red breasted mergansers, tree sparrows, juncos, blue jays, some darting sparrows, and black capped chickadees, to name a few. Cheers, Liz ------=_NextPart_000_0053_01CCF7EE.43780D00 Content-Type: text/html; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content=3D"text/html; charset=3Diso-8859-1" = http-equiv=3DContent-Type> <META name=3DGENERATOR content=3D"MSHTML 8.00.6001.19190"> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=3D#ffffff> <DIV><FONT face=3D"Times New Roman">Wednesday, Feb 29,=20 2012 1:20 - 1:30 pm. </FONT></DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV><FONT face=3D"Times New Roman">When I walked on the driveway = towards Randy=20 Lauff's property, 15+ crows and ravens flew up to the air.
