Had a visit early this morning by ~30 PIne Siskins, the first for us this winter. Usually we get them in mid-winter & they stay but not this flock which exhibited the frenetic activity associated with wandering flocks in winter. In the past 10 days we have had goldfinch flocks of ~75 & 50. These flocks appear to act similarily; very few actually feed, most appear unsure of what to do, they flush without cause & rarely spend more than 30-40 mins. before moving on. One wonders what drives such flocks? Angus
