I swung by Red Bridge Pond this morning and had the same experience as =
Gayle. The ducks and coot swarmed for the seeds but the gallinule =
ignored them. I left a head of lettuce on the sand bar but it wasn't =
touched before I left.

The rescue strategy is working! The gallinule is already habituated to =
check out the sand bar. It walks out of the water and looks around the =
bar for goodies. I suspect it is looking for protein so salmon may be =
the answer. Canned fish cat food is cheapest. Canned Chum or Pink Salmon =
is not expensive either. Leave the Sockeye Salmon for Hans please.

There is more open water this morning so I'm hoping the area stays open =
enough all winter so the coot and gallinule can escape predators, while =
they visit the sandbar area.

Hans
