As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a =20 young man, picking up starfish one by one and tossing each one gently =20= back into the water. He came closer still and called out, "Good =20 morning! May I ask what it is that you are doing?" The young man paused, looked up, and replied "Throwing starfish into =20 the ocean." The old man smiled, and said, "I must ask, then, why are you throwing =20= starfish into the ocean?" To this, the young man replied, "The sun is up and the tide is going =20 out. If I don=92t throw them in, they=92ll die." Upon hearing this, the elderly observer commented, "But, young man, do =20= you not realise that there are miles and miles of beach and there are =20= starfish all along every mile? You can=92t possibly make a difference!" The young man listened politely. Then he bent down, picked up another =20= starfish, threw it into the back into the ocean past the breaking =20 waves and said, "It made a difference for that one." - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - =20= - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - =20= - - - - - - - - - - On 13-Jan-12, at 12:26 PM, <soudekd@ns.sympatico.ca> wrote: > Hi Tuma, > I thoroughly enjoyed the Native story about the heroic and =20 > dedicated Militaw the Hummingbird.
