Today, Jan. 5th. at around 12:30, I walked over to Red Bridge Pond. It was (& still is) snowing and there is now a thin layer of ice around the shore line & over most of the pond but there are a few open areas. There is open water, in the reedy area close to where the daycare center is (I believe there is a large drain pipe that goes under the road near there?). I did not see the Gallinule but there were 2 Mallards which swam over to the edge of the reeds, walked onto the ice and flew toward the other side. I did have a small bag of leafy greens, hulled sunflower seeds and some chopped salmon. I walked down to the edge of the reeds & fairly close to the open water & tossed the mixture in there. I just figured if it was anywhere it might be around that open water.

Sincerely,

Gayle MacLean
Dartmouth
