A couple of additions to Bernard Forsythe's sightings recently listed: On Dec. 12/11 on his long walk from Wolfville to Grand Pre along the edge of woods and RR tracks, he saw at least one cardinal and perhaps more?; and on Dec. 13/11 he saw a male wood duck in the Canard River? where it crosses Highway 358?. In the afternoon TODAY I checked a few ponds and rivers: In the Habitant River in Canning: 1 juv. great blue heron; about 80 total ducks: 65 mallards, 10+ black ducks, 2 Am. wigeons (m,f pr), and 2 f/imm common mergansers, & 1 red-tailed hawk. Saxon St. Pond: about 110 total ducks: no pintail visible, 100 mallards, 10 black ducks, 3 bald eagles, 3 ravens. Canard Pond: fallen-tree obstruction now thankfully gone (thanks due to someone?), 31 Canada geese, 2 gadwalls (m,f pr), 3 f/imm wigeons, 30 black ducks, 15 mallards, 1 bald eagle.
