I am looking for advice on where to go to see some of my tar= get birds during the time I=E2=80=99m there. I=E2=80=99d also be very gratef= ul to learn of any opportunities to go birding with locals while I=E2=80=99m= there, such as birding club outings or similar events. > =20 > I=E2=80=99ve visited NS a few times now and really enjoy birding there. I=E2=80=99d especial= ly like to know of good coastal spots to go and look for wintering Alcids an= d sea ducks and if we have some good weather I may want to head to the valle= y to bird for a day. I may only get a day or two to dedicate to birding so a= ny recommendations to help me get the most bang for the buck would be great.= =20 > =20 > I do realize that some of these species may be difficult to find but some o= f my main targets for this trip include: > King Eider > Harlequin Duck > Common Goldeneye > Barrow=E2=80=99s Goldeneye > Common Murre > Thick-billed Murre > Razorbill > Dovekie > Atlantic Puffin > Great Skua > Iceland Gull > Glaucus Gull > Gray Jay > Northern Shrike > Black-backed Woodpecker > Horned Lark > Lapland Longspur > Evening Grosbeak > Pine Grosbeak > Red Crossbill > White-winged Crossbill > Common Redpoll > Bohemian Waxwing > Snowy Owl > Northern Saw-whet Owl > Northern Goshawk > Rough-legged Hawk > Ruffed Grouse > =20 > I just purchased a copy of Blake Maybank=E2=80=99s =E2=80=9CBirding Sites o= f Nova Scotia=E2=80=9D and I think it will be very helpful.
