This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_znO3LpuUQgszv1L+NW/wNw) Content-type: text/plain; CHARSET=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT ----- Original Message ----- From: Hans Toom To: NS-RBA Sent: Tuesday, December 06, 2011 12:49 PM Subject: Red-bellied Woodpecker and Purple Sandpipers I spotted a Red-bellied Woodpecker clinging to a utility pole beside Ketch Harbour Road this morning. Interestingly, it was checking out a nesting cavity. The utility poles along Ketch Harbour Road have been nest sites for Black-backed and Hairy Woodpeckers and Northern Flicker. This location is worth watching in the spring. On the rocks off Bull Head, Sambro Harbour, were an indeterminate number of Purple Sandpipers and several species of gull, also Great Cormorant.
