From: John Sollows

Date: Dec. 1/11

Yup, one female showed up under our Japanese quince bush, on the Wyman Road,
south of Yarmouth, yesterday morning. Unmistakable, even in the fog and
rain.

Looks as if this bird, like cardinals and turkey vultures, is becoming
commonplace in Nova Scotia, as boreal chickadees, Canada jays, and evening
grosbeaks move out. Saw my first vulture down here back in the summer of
'82 or '83, and my first cardinal in May, '92. Saw my first red-bellied
woodpecker in town in March, '04.

Wonder what role climate change is playing in all these comings and goings.
