A birdy day at Ann Doull's yard in south end Halifax.

The highlights were a flock of cedar waxwings and a red bellied woodpecker,
which must have been the same one Andy Horn recently saw at the end of Robie
Street.

One of the blue jays has now got an injured wing. It was skulking in the
thorn bush by the feeder tree for a long time and when it finally came out
it was moving very awkwardly and I saw that three or four of the long flight
feathers were missing. It managed to hop onto a feeder and had a good feed.
Later on she saw it again on the ground, busy eating fallen seed. Then it
hopped across to the hedge and managed to hop from branch to branch until it
was fairly high up a tree. It perched there for a long time while its
friends went swooping by in their usual carefree manner.

Cheers,
Liz
