Hi:
1530 16Nov11 a mature Barred Owl perched in a tree about 40' from where I w=
as working near the edge of the woods behind our home in Kingston.
It was about the same distance from the Nest Box where 2 chicks have been p=
roduced=2C banded by Bernard=2C in spring of 2010 and 2011.
I left soon after it arrived as it seemed interested in 3 red squirrels in =
a nearby pine. Later it was mobbed by a number of crows and ravens: it move=
d about 100' to a mature pine and ignored the corvid mob=2C it was still th=
ere near dusk. Barbara saw it at 1645=2C still in the big pine.
What I was surprised about was the repeated call of a Hermit Thrush=2C I ha=
d heard 2 individuals about a week ago in the same area!
Expect they should be south by now! Cheers=2C Barbara and Pat =
