Thanks Paul. I am retired now and will not be attending that tourism meetin=
g tomorrow. I am so glad you're still involved.=20
You are a fountain of knowledge too especially about nature. The tourism in=
dustry needs you. Lynne Perry

As a former tourism worker=2C I doubt that 'many' would be attracted to tha=
t.=20
I once had young people come into Shelburne and request to see our slums...=
...for some university course that they were taking. I was hard pressed ot=
 help them in that area.=20
This would be an environmental educational issue like the tar sands in Albe=
rta.=20
We do have some issues but not that we'd want to advertise methinks. =20
It would get government attention but would it help our cause?=20
I used 'tourism' to help restore old buildings=2C protect birding habitat a=
nd to help us keep lighthouses.
Not all of it worked.=20
When a person travels they want to be entertained and educated.=20
A business like the one proposed would have to make money to be viable.=20

I think it would be a novel idea to have a tour company lead a Nova Scotia =
tour to our blights on nature namely the Sydney tar ponds=2C the gypsum min=
e outside Elmsdale which I have heard is the biggest hole in the world=2C a=
 biomass clear-cut=2C the algae streams near the mink farms=2C fish farms a=
nd the list could be endless. Of course the tour company could show a few o=
f our beautiful sights just to show what is left.=20
I am serious about the tour company idea. Can you imagine an advertisement =
in Canadian Geographic for just that type of tour... It may draw the intere=
st of which ever would be the current government. If anyone wants to start =
up such a tour company=2C don't expect a tourism start up grant from the go=
vernment. :)
